Who Will Lead the Humans Into Space? EU, USA, China, Russia, or Arab League?

January 6th, 2012

Many years back, I read a Sci-Fi novel in which the author had human space travelers on another planet, an outpost colony, and those folks were scheduled to return and a rocket ship to be sent to pick them up. Unfortunately, at home socialism had set in, class warfare and the citizens wanted that money spent at home for social programs and not with the space program. The colonists were stranded running out of supplies, and life-systems to maintain.

Basically, the politicians of the government decided it was more prudent for them allow the wishes of the people to prevail, thus, no rocket was sent to pick up the colonists and they died. As bad as that Sci Fi Novel had portrayed that potential eventuality of the future, it has always stuck with me how times change, and how the greedy masses never have their desires satisfied and how they are willing to sacrifice a few, as long as they get what they want.

Now then, let’s bring this philosophical debate full-circle to the present period. You see, there was an interesting article in Aviation Week on November 4, 2011 titled; “European Turmoil Imperils Space Budgets,” which presents an intriguing and unfortunate challenge for the forward progression of humankind. The article had stated that;

“The EC is busy budget cutting among the 27 members of the European Union after a draft budget plan abandoned future funding for the Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES) project. Despite having sunk $3.16 billion into the flagship Earth-observation project to date, the EC plan would shift the burden of GMES operations funding to individual member-states, a gamble that could spark protests from EU member governments, and which carries significant political risk.”

Anyone that thinks China is slowing down in their space exploits has not been paying attention much, a few days later after that article above came out two more appeared in Space Daily Online News Syndicate titled; “Will China’s next space mission be manned?” and “China’s space industry to see accelerated expansion over next 10 years,” which seem to indicate that China has the will, funding, and desire to conquer space, even if the Western Nations fail to make good on their lofty and optimistic plans.

One has to ask why the Western World will not keep good on their promises to their space missions, and siphon money needed for exploration and the advancement of humankind into more free fishes for the masses, whose quench will never be satisfied and in the end socialism will win and the progress will stop, and “The Regressives” will indeed rule the political will on Earth. Please consider all this.

Public Fame or Misplaced Public Trust?

January 6th, 2012

We find celebrities in every field. Celebrity Sports persons, Celebrity CEOs, Celebrity Saints so on and so forth. Once in a while some of these stars also get embroiled in controversies and fall from being adored to being hated by the public. The world has seen the fall of the likes of Tiger Woods, Rajat Gupta, Salman Butt, Azharuddin, Swami Nityananda, Ramalinga Raju and even the great seer Sri Sankaracarya of Kancheepuram.

Their achievements may be very important for industry/sports/literary bodies and agencies, but these persons seem to be mere mortals who have not conquered desires of worldly life and are very selfish towards their own wellness.

The TV also gives undue publicity and credit to these persons by telecasting programs about them on national holidays and during other important cultural events. More than professional accomplishments and more than holding important posts in the Government etc., these persons should think about serving the same society that has bestowed them with fame and fortune.

When one earns national fame it is important for him or her to understand that there are a million other people in society who revere and respect them for their accomplishments. In turn they should become more sensitive towards their own society. A sportsman such as Tiger Woods fell from being an adorable young sports icon of the highest class to a womanizer of the lowest class after admission of his own misdeeds. It would have been wonderful if Tiger spent some of his negative energy in other positive thoughts such as helping children in the third world countries and setting up other charities.

We see marketing companies/agencies create brand names for so many mediocre persons by just spending huge budgets. Such persons become the attention of young children. Children should be taught religion, philosophy, mathematics and science. They should not be taught idol worship persons who may have just become famous due to unethical marketing tricks and strategies.

It is also very important for children and other youth who may read this article to realize that public life is full of false claim and they may well be better of seeking control of their own actions. A person who has conquered his own mind will see God in his life than a publicly quoted person who has an alternate self of lust, anger, greed.
